Dog Rescue

There are many organizations involving dogs and people working together or for each other. Dog rescue organizations take unwanted or abused dogs into their own homes. They feed them, train them, and love them until they can find a good, loving and stable home for them. When members of the dog rescue groups hear of such a dog, they go and pick the dog up. A dog rescue is usually when a dog is in serious trouble. Unfortunately, there are hundreds of dog rescues each day. What is equally as sad is when they have to do a puppy rescue. Their owners dump many puppies on the side of the road. These are usually easily to find a home for than adult dogs.

When the dog rescue groups find people willing to adopt the dog, there are requirements to be met. The prospective “parents” fill out an application, which is usually followed by an interview and personal reference check. If the people are approved, they are asked to have the dog neutered or spayed. The dog rescue centres work with the dog pound and animal shelters to assure a dog isn’t put to sleep without every effort being made to find them a home.

For most of us, when we think of our dog or any dog, we think of a friendly loving pet. We think of them running around, digging, playing and just being a pet. Most dogs are pets, but there are also the dogs that everyone should be aware of: the search and rescue dogs. Search and rescue dogs work for law enforcement and assist in finding missing persons. They are hard-working, loyal and intelligent dogs. They look for missing persons by air scent, tracking or trailing. Their training begins as young as 10 weeks of age and continues until they are retired anytime between 4 and 7 years of age. Not enough can be said about the dedication and hard work that goes into training these dogs for such a feat.
