Dog Names
You’ve decided to get a dog and everything is ready for its arrival. You have a doghouse, dog food, grooming supplies and plenty of toys. The one thing you may have forgotten is dog names. Not every dog can have the name Lassie or Benji. There are so many cool dog names available, you will have no trouble finding names for dogs or a name for a puppy.
If you know what gender you are getting, that makes it a little easier. Puppy names can be unisex when they are young, but should be unique when it becomes an adult. I feel dogs’ names should be consistent with their gender and their breed. A good example is a male German shepherd shouldn’t have a name like Fluffy, just because his fur was fluffy as a pup. However, that’s just my opinion. Female puppy names that are fitting as a puppy may not be suitable to the dog, her personality or breed as an adult. There are many cute names for girls dogs that will grow with the dog.
I gave a female German shepherd to a friend a few years ago. He named the dog “Fubu” after his favorite clothing line. On her AKC registration papers, her name is Fubu Von My Lady, but for every day use, she is called “Fubu”. Anyone knowing anything about German shepherds knows they are known for their regality, loyalty, and bravery. They have a noble look about them. While the name “Fubu” is unique, I don’t personally feel it’s appropriate for the gender and definitely not for the breed. There are many popular dog names and “Fubu” is not one of them. Then again, that’s only my opinion and it’s all a matter of personal preference.
On the subject of German dogs, there are many German dog names used on German dogs. They are usually named after a German country or German food. Many just research German names and their meanings and go from there.
Some owner’s give their male dog names that are similar to human names, and do the same with female dog names. This is all a matter of personal preference. If your dog is a boy, dog names that are commonly used are:

· Sam Rocky

· Duke
If your dog is a girl, dog names that are frequently used are:

· Lady

Hunting dogs have really gained popularity the past few years. Hunters are choosing hunting dog names that are linked to hunting or masculinity such as:
