Dog Training Methods
For every dog trainer you meet, you will find a different method of dog training. Most of the methods are similar with each of them having some variations. Some are based on results obtained, some on beliefs. The dog training methods you choose to use will be your own personal preference.
Many successful dog trainers use the diverse method of dog training. This method is based on the theory that no two dogs are the same. There is no yelling, hitting, or punishing the dog. The dog is rewarded with praise for good behavior. If the present method of training they are using on your dog doesn’t work for that particular dog, they try a different method. The diverse method of dog training is one of the famous dog training methods that is used by the Dog Whisper, Caesar as well as other famous trainers.
The Koehler method of dog training is completely different from the diverse method of dog training. The Koehler method of dog training is based on the theory that the dog makes his own “choices” and these choices determine if the result is a pleasant or unpleasant experience for the dog. Trainers using this method believe that the dog understands that it was his making the “wrong” choice that led to his unpleasant experience and, therefore, learns that making the right choice is more pleasant.
The Koehler method of guard dog training is similar to his regular training. His theory is more on the line of “tough love” than on rewards for good behavior. The belief is that dogs will realize that any unpleasant thing that happens to them is their own fault because they made the wrong choice in their behavior.
The German dog training method relies on the reward for good behavior. This method states that if a dog associates good behavior with treats or praise, then the good behavior will become an every day pattern in his life. Many German shepherd dogs are taught their commands in German. Many Germans believe that the dog understands and responds to the German language much quicker than English.
Regardless, of what dog obedience training methods you choose to use on your dog, the important thing is to use consistency. A dog that becomes confused from inconsistent training will take twice as long to train. This will cause needless frustration for both of you.
