Pomeranian

The Pomeranian dog is a very small compact dog weighing only 3 to 7 pounds. The Pomeranian has long been a very popular dog especially the elderly. Pomeranian dogs are very alert, intelligent, but also demanding and domineering if allowed. Part of the German Spritz breed, Pomeranians are a toy dog. Toy Pomeranians average only 3 to 7 pounds and can be kept in your pocket. The same is true of the teacup Pomeranians. There are actually some that say there is no such thing as a teacup Pomeranian, only small runt of the litter Pomeranians. This has been a source of controversy in many breeds that have “toy” or “teacup” dogs.

Pomeranians have an undercoat and overcoat of beautiful shiny hair that is shed once a year by males and by females when they are in heat. When Pomeranians puppies are born, they can be any variety of colors as black, black and tan, blue, blue and tan, chocolate and tan, cream, cream sable, red or red sable just to name a few. Pomeranians that have two or more colors are called parti-color. The black Pomeranian is a very popular color. Years ago, black was the least favorite color, but now they are in demand due to the offspring they can produce being a beautiful red or orange. There are pictures on Pomeranian sites where you can look at the beauty of the black Pomeranian if you are interested.
