Labrador Retriever
The Labrador retriever is the most popular dog in the United States and the United Kingdom. They are one of many types of retriever, but by far the most well liked. Labrador Retrievers are medium built but very strong dogs with a great working drive and ability. For years, they have been used for hunting. Labrador Retrievers love hunting and retrieving their “catch”. They are loving, friendly, affectionate dogs that love praise and attention from their family. Labrador Retrievers are very intelligent dogs and are easy to train so they are used for rescue, detection and therapy.
Labrador retriever breeders breed Labrador Retrievers for retrieving in water due to the Labrador’s love of water. Young Labrador Retriever puppies enjoy the water at a very young age as well. There is little that they enjoy more than going playing in the water or swimming with the family. Labrador Retrievers make wonderful pets as well as working dogs. They are easy going and loving towards children, even very young children. They are protected around the children, but are too mellow to be good guard dogs.

Because of the Labrador’s affectionate and loving nature, it is easy to get him to pose with the children. When you think of a child running through the field side by side with his dog, it isn’t hard to imagine that dog is a Labrador Retriever or a family of Labrador Retriever puppies.
The Labrador Retriever is average in size weighing from 50 to 80 pounds and standing 21 to 25” at the withers. They have a stocky bode with a big solid head. Their coat is short and straight and they shed year round. They are very coordinated and move in a graceful manner.
There is a variety of different color Labrador Retrievers:

· Chocolate Labrador Retriever
· Silver Labrador Retriever
· Yellow Labrador Retriever
Occasionally some white markings are mixed on the lighter colored Labs. The black Labrador Retrievers are solid black with no markings. The chocolate Labrador Retrievers are sometimes called brown. The silver Labrador Retrievers are rare and are not recognized by the AKC but are in demand with some. The yellow Labrador Retrievers range in color from light tan to reddish like a fox. It is not unusual for a litter to consist of all these colors.
