Havanese
The Havanese dog, part of the Bichon family, is the National dog of Cuba, which is where the Havanese and Bichon Havanese came from. Bichon is a breed of toy dogs, but the Bichon Havanese are a little sturdier than toys averaging 8 to 11” tall and weighing 6 to 8 pounds unless they are a litter of mini Havanese. When they first came from Cuba, they were groomed to look like poodles and then allowed to have longer hair. Havanese breeders did some research and cross breeding to get the affect they wanted in the size and appearance. Owners of Havanese dogs now vary in how they keep the dog groomed. If kept long, the silky looking hair will grow 6” to 8” and is very easy to brush and groom.
Havanese dogs and Havanese puppies make very good companion dogs. They have a cheerful and playful disposition making them excellent pets for children, unlike some small dogs that tend to snap at children. From the time you get your Havanese puppy, you will have a very cooperative dog that loves to perform for you and please you. They learn very quickly and are not barkers like most little dogs.
