Beagle

I don’t think I ever think of the Beagle dog where I don’t think of Snoopy and Charlie Brown. Beagles are hound dogs trained for tracking and hunting. They are very well mannered and love being around people. Beagle dogs are two different sizes one being 13” and the other being 15” with their weight being approximately 20 pounds. They love to eat and can easily become overweight if not watched.

Years ago there was small Beagle dogs called miniature Beagle puppies or pocket Beagle. They got the name pocket Beagle because they were small enough to be in your pocket. These small Beagles no longer exist. In fact, the AKC doesn’t acknowledge that they even exist. Members of Beagle organizations believe that the miniatures Beagles are just runts of the litter. Still others believe beagle breeders brought about these miniature Beagles just for the pet market, but that there is no such thing as pocket or miniature Beagles.

Beagle puppies are very energetic and playful. If you want a loving, affectionate puppy, get a beagle puppy. Beagles love to bark and howl so if you are living in small close-knit community, this is something to consider. Hunters use Beagle dogs for hunting, as they are excellent tracking dogs. When they get a scent of something, they don’t want to stop until they find it. This very trait is what makes them wanderers.

Hunters are frequently looking for Beagles for sale and specifically Beagle puppies for sale so they can be trained at a young age. Beagle pups are easy to work with because of their loving nature.

Because of their excellent sniffing, Beagle dogs are used by the USDA to detect food items in luggage brought into the United States. Beagles are chosen because of their gentle nature, and their presence will not frighten passengers that fear dogs. I don’t know of many people that would look at Beagle pictures and be intimidated.

There are many Beagle rescue organizations in the United States. Volunteers dedicated to finding homes for the Beagle puppies or Beagle dogs usually run these organizations. Some of the Beagles were abandoned or abused. Some are there due to changes in their owner’s life where they were forced to give them up. Regardless of the reason, sadly, there are many of these fine Beagles just waiting for homes.
