Dogs love to play and they are not particular about what they play with, but they do seem to enjoy dog toys. There are any number of dog toys or puppy toys you can get. You don’t have to get expensive toys. Your dog will be just as happy with a dog toy from a dollar store or any other cheap dog toys you get him.
If you have a small dog or puppy, you will want to get small dog toys. Most small dogs or puppies really enjoy squeak toys. They love the sound they make when they chew on them. My puppies could always chew on them for hours. One of the most important things is to make sure the toy is a dog safe toy. There are some toys that can easily be chewed apart and then eaten. Puppies don’t have the common sense to know not to eat it. Try to get your puppy an indestructible dog toy. Dogs, especially puppies can become attached to a particular toy.
I gave my puppy an old hiking boot that I no longer use and she loves it. Some believe that giving a dog a shoe for chewing encourages them to do it to other shoes. I feel that the dog knows that that particular shoe is hers to chew. This definitely falls in the cheap dog toys category.
If you have a large dog, try to get indestructible dog toys. Large dogs have big teeth and can really put a dent into toys. Many dog supply stores sell a nice selection of tough dog toys. There are many styles of ropes that dogs chew on and they last a long time. There is a brand of ‘jawrobics’ toys that are very hard plastic but good for the dog’s jaw. Some of them can have treats stuffed inside to keep him or her busy if they’re home alone for any period of time.
Dog supply stores will also have dog toy boxes available in a variety of styles and colors. A dog toy box is handy for storage and your dog will always know where his or her toys are. You can make your own dog toy storage box. You only task then will be to teach your dog to put their toys away when they are finished playing!
Clifford the big red-dog toy is very popular with children. All children love dogs. Your dog or puppy may enjoy one of the Clifford stuffed animals once they are beyond the chew and eat stage.
If you have a dealer available, a Kong dog toy is a good choice for a dog toy. They are very durable and dogs love their toys.
